When I am on an assignment for one of Khatala’s clients, who is my employer?
Khatala Staffing is your employer; it is with us that you have an employment contract.

How long does an assignment last?
This depends on the client’s needs and will be discussed and made clear in the contractual documents you will need to sign before an assignment starts.

How will my salary be paid?
Direct deposit into your bank account

When will I be paid?
Either weekly or monthly

When will I get an increase?
Increases are at the clients sole discretion and often given after discussions and negotiations have been held with the client.

What should I do if my job description is different than the one described to me?
If you have any concerns regarding your job description and the required duties as stipulated by the client, please speak to your Khatala personnel manager.

What is the policy if I am unable to report to work or will be late?
Call your supervisor or manager at the client

When should I submit my timesheet?
Timesheets must either be submitted weekly or monthly, please speak to your consultant at Khatala for clarity on dates and times.

What should I do if I am injured while on assignment?
If an accident occurs and you are injured while on the job, call your Khatala Supervisor or safety coordinator immediately! You are employed by Khatala and covered by Khatala’s Workers’ Compensation Insurance. We must be notified immediately so that we can make sure you are given care and attention at the proper medical facility.

If I am on a short-term assignment and get another job offer, what do I do?
Call your consultant at Khatala first to notify her and she will contact the client to inform the client on your behalf.

How is sick leave paid?
Please note that sick notes will be accepted from doctors where the practice number is notable, clinic/hospital letters (no traditional healer documentation will be used to pay out sick leave).  When absent from work you are expected to contact your direct support at the client (either the supervisor/line manager/team leader) and your Khatala consultant.

How is leave paid?
Please note that Leave will be paid upon production of a signed and approved leave form from the client only.

What is Family Responsibility Leave/Compassionate leave?
An employee is entitled to the above when his child is born, when his child is sick, or in the event of the death of the his spouse parent, grand parent, child, grandchild or sibling.

How many days do I get for Family Responsibility/Compassionate leave?
According to Section 27 of the BCOE an employee is entitled to take 3 days leave during each cycle of 12 months of employment with the employer.

What is the rate of pay for Sat, Sun and Overtime?

  • Sat – 1.5
  • Sun – Double
  • Overtime – 1.5

How many hours do I have to work to qualify for 1 days’ leave?
The employee is entitled to 1 (one) days paid annual leave for every 17 days worked or 127.5 hours worked

How many hours do I have to work to qualify for day’s 1 sick leave?
The employee qualifies for 1 (one) day’s paid sick leave for every 26 (twenty six) days worked or 195 hours worked

Do I get paid for public holiday if I am not at work?
If the public holiday falls on a working day and the employee was not required to be at work, it will be paid.

How many leave days do I get for the year as a temp/contractor?
The employee is entitled to 1 (one) days paid annual leave for every 17 days worked or 127.5 hours worked.  For temps on long term assignments your leave accumulates according to the number of hours worked in a week or a month and paid out when the employee goes on leave.

How do I accumulate my leave days?
The employee is entitled to 1 (one) days paid annual leave for every 17 days worked or 127.5 hours worked.  Leave is accumulated according to the amount of hours worked in a week or months.

What is Khatala Referral Bonus Programme?
Khatala may offer a referral bonus for each qualified employee referred and placed with a client of Khatala. Contact your Khatala Consultant for more information about effective dates and conditions
